Ph.D. Program
Program Introduction
The educational missions of the master program and PhD program are (1) to train medical physicists with professional specialties, and (2) to prepare graduates for the most advanced imaging-related career.
Our department integrates basic science research closely with modern clinical applications. The faculty members are highly productive in their own academic research and have multiple integrative projects granted by several national funding agencies each year. Many state-of-the-art facilities in diagnostic imaging, radiation therapy, and nuclear medicine in the affiliated Chang Gung Memorial Hospital have provided numerous research collaboration opportunities for the department. The faculty and graduate students also work closely with physicians in the hospital to solve the most challenging problems nowadays.
Perspectives
Engage and realize teaching environment in the international settings: Financially support our students to attend international conferences and presenting research results. Specifically develop English-speaking courses in our graduate school programs. Educate our students to meet the various challenges after graduation and encourage exchange of international students.
- Train and prepare future physicists with highest quality: Support and meet the demands for the high-end advanced medical diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy instruments, including high-field magnetic resonance imaging, multiple-detector computed tomography, positron emission tomography, linear accelerator and proton therapy facility.
- Pioneer research in the areas of medical imaging and radiological sciences: Establish the very first proton therapy center in Taiwan and accelerate the existing molecular imaging facility for the projected translational research. Encourage participation in joint research collaboration with international researchers.
- Promote clinical services and amenities: Combine medical research and teaching in both clinical and basic sciences toward better healthcare services and integrity.
